About the Role

Reporting to the Commercial Senior Vice President, MEA, APAC & LatAm, the General Manager, MEA is responsible for the overall commercial leadership, strategic direction, business performance, and long-term growth of CMR Surgical’s business across the Middle East and Africa region.

Defining and executing the regional commercial strategy, driving capital and clinical sales growth, owning regional P&L performance, leading distributor partnerships, identifying and delivering growth opportunities, building high-performing teams, and ensuring execution of the long-term business plan across the MEA region.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Achievement: Accountable for achieving regional revenue objectives across capital equipment, clinical utilisation, and service revenues. Lead sales strategy, pipeline development, forecasting accuracy, and commercial execution across the MEA region.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement the company's strategic and business plans for the MEA region, ensuring alignment with global and regional strategies.
  • Distributor Strategy & Partner Management: Define and lead CMR Surgical’s distributor strategy across the MEA region, including partner selection, onboarding, performance management, capability development, governance, and commercial effectiveness. Build strategic partnerships that support sustainable market growth and regional business objectives.
  • KOL Management:  Establish, develop and maintain KOL and customer relationships through-out the MEA markets.  Regular customer visits to ensure CMR presence.
  • Team Leadership & Talent Development: Build, lead and develop high-performing commercial teams across the region, fostering a culture of accountability, performance, collaboration and customer focus. Provide leadership across the broader cross-functional MEA organisation.
  • Financial Oversight: Own the MEA regional P&L, ensuring achievement of revenue growth, profitability, forecasting accuracy, and effective resource allocation. Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range business planning.
  • Business Development: Identify new growth opportunities, expand service offerings, and drive market share in the MEA region.
  • Operational Management: Collaborate closely with all CMR operational stakeholders and functions ensuring operational excellence.
  • Regional Marketing: Develop and partner with regional marketing to drive awareness of CMR’s  portfolio and partner with Global Marketing on key regional events and initiatives. 
  • Market & Regulatory Expertise: Maintain a strong understanding of the diverse regulatory landscapes, market access challenges, and healthcare dynamics across the MEA region.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with various functions and global/regional leadership to achieve business objectives and manage risks. Cultivate groups of leading KOL’s/executives to advise on market and product development
  • Liaison Management:  as applicable build and foster liaison relationships throughout the MEA market and ensure CMR’s best interests in managing these relationships.? 

About you

As the business continues to expand across MEA, the complexity of distributor management, market access, customer engagement, commercial execution, and regional growth initiatives has increased significantly. As a result, the organisation requires a senior leader with extensive regional market expertise, proven P&L ownership, and the capability to lead and execute a comprehensive regional growth strategy.

You will bring extensive experience operating within distributor-led healthcare markets and a demonstrable track record of scaling commercial businesses across MEA/MENA. This role requires an established commercial leader capable of rapidly assessing business priorities, making sound strategic decisions, and delivering measurable impact from the outset.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have/be:

  • Degree or equivalent in Business, Marketing, Biomedical Engineering, or Clinical Science. MBA preferred.
  • Proven experience managing distributor-led commercial organisations across the MEA/MENA region.
  • Demonstrated ownership of regional P&L and commercial business performance.
  • Significant experience leading capital equipment and clinical sales businesses within MedTech.
  • Proven commercial leader with extensive experience leading MedTech businesses across the MEA/MENA region, delivering sustained revenue growth and building strong customer, distributor, and stakeholder relationships.
  • 10+ years of medical device experience within international healthcare and clinical environments.
  • Substantial leadership experience managing and developing high-performing commercial teams.
  • Clinical experience in the operating room with minimally invasive surgery and/or robotic-assisted surgery.
  • Strong history of customer engagement and KOL/HCP relationship management across the MEA market.
  • Strong analytical skills, commercial acumen, and a passion for driving business growth and advancing minimally invasive surgical technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively within a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Ability to thrive in an agile organisation where innovation and adaptability are critical to success.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (75%+).
  • Based within the Middle East region, with preference for UAE, Saudi Arabia, or Egypt.
  • Strong level of professional English language skills
