About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated, organised and passionate Global Events Coordinator to join our Global Marketing team and support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of global congresses, customer meetings and strategic events.

The role reports directly to the Head of Global Events and offers an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in global events.

Initially, the role will focus on learning, shadowing and supporting the Head of Global Events across the full event lifecycle. You will gain hands-on experience in planning and delivering complex global congresses and customer meetings, while developing your knowledge of customer engagement, delegate management, hotel and travel logistics, supplier management, budgets and on-site event delivery.

As your knowledge, confidence and experience develop, you will progressively take ownership of individual workstreams, projects and eventually events. The longer-term development pathway is to progress into a Senior Events Coordinator, and then a Global Events Manager role, with increasing responsibility and ownership of the global events programme.

This is a hands-on and demanding role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with people and takes genuine pride in delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Events do not always operate within traditional working hours. Evening and weekend work, as well as international travel, will be required as part of the event programme, particularly during congresses and major customer meetings.

In the initial stage of the role, you will:

  • Shadow the Head of Global Events and learn how complex global events are planned and delivered.
  • Support the planning and coordination of global congresses, customer meetings and other strategic events.
  • Develop an understanding of the full event lifecycle, from initial planning through to on-site delivery and post-event evaluation.
  • Gain experience in delegate management, registration and customer communications.
  • Learn about hotel, venue and travel logistics.
  • Support supplier management, quotations, contracts and negotiations.
  • Assist with event budgets, purchase orders and invoice management.
  • Gain practical experience of on-site event delivery.
  • Support the coordination and logistics of surgical robotic systems and associated equipment where required.
  • Learn how to manage multiple stakeholders, suppliers and competing priorities.
  • Build strong knowledge of our customers, internal processes and standards of event excellence.

Progression towards Senior Events Coordinator, and then Global Events Manager.

As your skills and confidence develop, you will progressively:

  • Take ownership of specific event workstreams and projects.
  • Manage elements of events independently.
  • Develop relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Take greater responsibility for budgets and supplier negotiations.
  • Lead specific aspects of on-site event delivery.
  • Manage delegate, hotel and travel logistics with increasing independence.
  • Take responsibility for smaller events or defined elements of larger global congresses.
  • Ultimately progress towards independently managing events and taking ownership of larger elements of the global events programme.

Progression towards Senior Events Coordinator, and Global Events Manager will be based on the development of the individual’s skills, experience, performance and readiness to take on greater responsibility.

This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of 3 days a week being based in the office.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about events, highly organised and genuinely committed to delivering an outstanding customer experience.

You may be at an early stage of your events career or have experience in event coordination, congress management, meetings, hospitality or a related field. Most importantly, you will have the attitude, commitment and curiosity to learn.

You will be:

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to learn global events from the ground up, working directly under the Head of Global Events and gaining exposure to every stage of event delivery.

You will have the opportunity to work on high-profile global congresses and customer meetings, travel internationally, engage with customers and senior stakeholders, develop commercial and project-management skills, and progressively take ownership of your own events.

This is a challenging role and it requires commitment, flexibility and hard work. It is also an incredibly rewarding opportunity for someone who loves events and wants to build a career in global event management.

We offer a competitive salary and a great benefits package including a bonus, pension, healthcare and enhanced global parental leave pay.
