About the Role

We are a global surgical robotics company committed to improving patient outcomes through innovation. As we continue to scale our operations globally, we are seeking a Senior Tax Specialist to join our Tax team in Mumbai. This is a critical role within the finance function, responsible for ensuring end-to-end Indian tax compliance and supporting the business with expert tax advisory across all direct and indirect tax matters.

Reporting into the Head of Tax, you will manage the full spectrum of Indian tax obligations — from Goods and Services Tax (GST) and corporate income tax to Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and transfer pricing — acting as the primary point of contact for in-country tax matters and working closely with external advisors, finance business partners, and global tax colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • GST: End-to-end management of GST compliance including monthly/quarterly return filings (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9/9C), input tax credit reconciliations, e-invoicing, and liaison with the GST authorities on notices, audits and assessments.
  • Corporate Income Tax (CIT): Preparation and review of advance tax computations, corporate tax return filings, deferred tax calculations, and management of tax assessments and appeals in coordination with external counsel.
  • Tax Deducted at Source (TDS): Oversight of TDS compliance across all payment streams including vendor payments, salaries, and cross-border remittances; timely deposit, quarterly return filings (Form 24Q/26Q/27Q), and issuance of TDS certificates.
  • Transfer Pricing (TP): Preparation of transfer pricing documentation including Local File and Master File, benchmarking analysis support, and management of TP assessments and APAs in coordination with external advisors.
  • Tax Accounting: Preparation and review of tax-related balance sheet reconciliations, current and deferred tax provisions under IFRS/Ind AS, and support for the statutory audit and group reporting cycles.
  • Advisory & Projects: Provide proactive tax advisory to the business on new product launches, commercial contracts, intercompany arrangements, and any restructuring or M&A activity with an India nexus.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Stay current on Indian tax law developments, Budget announcements, and CBDT/CBIC circulars and notifications; assess impact on the business and communicate to relevant stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal finance teams, legal, supply chain, and external advisors and tax authorities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have/be:

  • A relevant professional qualification such as Chartered Accountant (CA) from ICAI, or equivalent; membership of the Institute of Cost Accountants or a postgraduate tax qualification is advantageous.
  • Detailed technical knowledge of the Indian tax legislation including the Income Tax Act 1961, GST Acts, and FEMA provisions relevant to tax.
  • Demonstrable experience preparing and reviewing transfer pricing documentation and working with the OECD Guidelines in an Indian context.
  • Proven ability to manage tax audits, assessments and appeals with the Indian revenue authorities, including drafting responses to notices.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and tax compliance software; proficiency in Excel for tax modelling and data analysis.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex tax issues clearly to non-tax audiences including senior finance leadership.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a high degree of accuracy, integrity and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Experience in a global MedTech, pharmaceuticals, life sciences or broader healthcare sector is desirable but not essential.
