Purpose of Role

This role reports to the Chief Corporate Strategy & Chief Legal Officer and critical to ensuring the department delivers its objectives to the business. This is a generalist role that involves managing and supporting projects across the full range of subject matters supported by the Legal & Compliance team. You must be able to adapt to changing priorities and business needs and must be proactive in identifying areas in need of improvement, or where alternative processes may increase efficiencies and generating appropriate action plans. The role will entail meticulous management and coordination of legal and compliance operational tasks, ensuring efficient support for a globally active and agile Legal team.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning and Management: Developing and implementing strategies to improve legal department operations, including optimising processes, policies, and procedures.
- Financial Management: Managing the legal department's external legal spend, including monitoring budget, forecasting budget needs, and implementing cost-saving measures.
- Technology Management: evaluating, implementing and managing legal and compliance technology solutions to improve department efficiency, e.g. contract management tool.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with other departments to ensure the legal team is aligned with the broader business goals and participating in cross-functional projects and initiatives.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analysing legal data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and preparing reports for senior management to aid in decision-making.
- Legal Project Management: Overseeing legal and compliance projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget, and aligning them with the organisation's strategic goals.
- Company Secretarial: Support and help facilitate the operational elements of company secretarial work, for example board meeting preparation and follow up, work with Companies House filings etc.
- Providing agile readiness to consistently support at Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel level, globally, including organisation of the Legal & Compliance team meeting cadences, minute taking, efficiently managing the inbox, creating and updating our folders, navigating the document management system, creating an effective and efficient environment.
- Management of learning activities; externally with colleagues outside of the team and internal continuous development opportunities.
About You
- Demonstrable communication skills as a team player and collaborator who partners well with other groups to obtain stakeholder buy-in and drive change.
- Ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels and provide succinct reports and recommendations.

- Outstanding organisational skills, able manage and prioritise a range of complex matters with competing deadlines and different stakeholders.

- Ideally will have experience working across or on projects within a scale-up and/or PE backed business.
- A builder mindset to develop and implement new processes, policies and procedures, from the ground up.
- Demonstrable experience in managing budgets and metrics, including forecasting, financial analysis, vendor & law firm management, reporting & metrics and accounting.
- Robust and mature use of technologies such as PowerPoint, Excel, the use of GAI and other such systems, including prior experience of implementing, maintaining or improving legal management systems and able to identify solutions and resolve technical issues.
- Demonstrable knowledge of company secretarial processes, corporate governance, and statutory compliance is an advantage.
- Evidential experience in driving initiatives that promote cross functional communication, team working and knowledge sharing.
- Robust experience in developing best practice in area of expertise to positively impact the work of others and the results of the firm.
- An evident understanding of legal contracting and compliance processes
