Compliance Specialist

Purpose of role

This is an opportunity to join the compliance team for a dynamic company, which is helping to transform surgery, for good. This role reports to the Global Head of Compliance and is critical to implementing the company’s global compliance program. CMR’s rapid growth trajectory and its innovative technology provide a unique platform for impactful and professional growth, where compliance expertise can directly contribute to the company's goal to transform surgery.

This is a generalist role that involves managing and supporting projects across the global compliance program. You must be able to adapt to changing priorities and business needs, while being proactive in identifying areas in need of improvement. The role will entail meticulous management and coordination of both large, complex initiatives and specific, discrete tasks.  This role will help foster a culture of ethical conduct, transparency and accountability across all global business operations.

Responsibilities

Global Compliance Program: Supporting the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s global compliance program, including but not limited to written policies and procedures, training and education, risk assessments, audits, monitoring.

Third Party Management: Supporting the due diligence, onboarding, compliance certification, compliance training and auditing/monitoring of third party distributors and agents.

Incident Management and Investigations: Assist in triaging, investigating, documenting, remediating and summarizing compliance concerns raised by company employees.

Partnering with Legal: Partnering with the company’s global legal team on compliance matters as they arise.

Financial Management: Tracking and ensuring effective and efficient external spend on compliance initiatives with law firms, service providers, and software vendors.

Technology Management: Evaluating, implementing and managing compliance technology solutions in areas that include but are not limited to third party relationships (e.g. distributors), engagements with healthcare professionals, and transparency reporting obligations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with other departments to ensure the compliance program designs and implements processes and procedures to achieve compliance objectives in a manner that is simple and effective for business stakeholders.

Data Analysis and Reporting: Analysing compliance data to identify trends, risks and opportunities, and preparing reports for leadership to aid in decision-making.

Compliance Project Management: Overseeing compliance projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget, and aligning them with the organisation's strategic goals.

Administrative support for the company’s Compliance Committee, including the preparation of agendas, presentations and meeting minutes.

Identify compliance learning activities for the global legal and compliance team; stay abreast of compliance developments, enforcement activity, trends and lessons learned across the global life sciences industry.

About You

Prior experience with and understanding of global healthcare compliance and  antibribery/anti-corruptions laws worldwide (e.g. UK Anti-Bribery, FCPA) and industry codes (e.g. MedTech Europe, MDMA, Advamed).

Demonstrable communication skills as a team player and collaborator who  partners well with other groups to obtain stakeholder buy-in and drive change.

Ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels and provide succinct reports and recommendations.

Confidently able to use judgement, discretion and strong decision-making skills within an agile and fast paced environment.

Highly motivated with strong personal ethics and integrity, demonstrating a positive attitude and operational rigor with a “can do” approach.

Outstanding organisational skills, ability to manage and prioritise a range of complex matters with competing deadlines and different stakeholders.

Analytical and detail oriented with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

Comfortable with change and able to deliver results when working with ambiguity.

Ideally will have experience working across or on projects within a scale-up and/or PE backed business.

Solid understanding of and experience with the required elements for an effective global compliance program, preferably with prior compliance experience in a global life sciences company.

A builder mindset to develop and implement new processes, policies and procedures, from the ground up.

Demonstrable experience in managing budgets and metrics, including forecasting, financial analysis, vendor & law firm management, reporting & metrics and accounting, auditing and monitoring.

Robust and mature use of technologies such as PowerPoint, Excel, the use of GAI and other such systems, including prior experience of implementing, maintaining or improving compliance related software applications.

Evidential experience in driving initiatives that promote cross functional communication, team working and knowledge sharing.

Robust experience in developing best practice in area of expertise to positively impact the work of others and the results of the firm.

An evident understanding of global healthcare compliance programs, policies and processes.

Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) a plus.
